WHOOPING CRANES ~ 2014 Photo Tour
ONE (1) SPACE LEFT
Head out with me aboard the Jack Flash on this photo tour created to capture vivid images of endangered Whooping Cranes. This tour holds space for five (5) participants to experience the magic of two extensive boat-based photo shoots designed to catch the cranes at their most active, as they feast upon the Gulf-Coast bounty.
Watch the behavior of these unique birds—the last descendants of nature’s only totally wild flock—in their own habitat along Aransas National Wildlife Refuge. Observe juveniles interacting with their parents. Gaze in wonder at the birds’ size and elegant gawkiness. Smile at the sound of their trumpeting calls. Gulp as they pull up blue crabs from the mud of the estuary bottom.
We will have multiple opportunities to take a variety of incredible photographs of and learn about this amazing species along the way.
Expect also to see and learn about plenty of other estuary-loving birds, including: Brown & White Pelicans, Great Blue Herons, Great Egrets, Ibis, American Oystercatchers, Forster’s Terns, Black Skimmers, and more.
The boat leaves from the Rockport area about ½ hour before sunrise both days of our tour so you’ll want to stay in Rockport or Port Aransas for the weekend. (See info below about lodging—not included in the tour.)
JEFF PARKER’S WHOOPING CRANE PHOTO TOUR INCLUDES:
TWO EXTENSIVE BOAT-BASED PHOTO SHOOTS and TWO AFTERNOON PHOTO SHOOTS IN & AROUND ROCKPORT:
Spend a day with professional wildlife photographer and Corpus Christi Certified Wildlife Guide, Jeff Parker, and Captain Kevin Sims aboard the Jack Flash focusing your lens (or lenses!) on endangered Whooping Cranes. Boat leaves approx. ½ hour before sunrise. Enjoy an afternoon photo shoot in and around Rockport taking images of shrimp boats, the marina, Brown Pelicans, wading birds, gulls (there are typically five kinds of gulls here this time of year), and more.
DAY 2: SUNDAY, JANUARY 26, 2014:
Spend another great day with Jeff aboard the Jack Flash capturing more great photos of Whooping Cranes and the other abundant bird life of the Texas Gulf Coast including: Ibis, Sandhill Cranes, Egrets, Whistling Ducks, Brown & White Pelicans, Great Blue Herons, American Oystercatchers, Forster’s Terns, Black Skimmers, and more. Boat leaves approx. ½ hour before sunrise. Then, enjoy a second afternoon photographing in and around Rockport.

Meals, lodging, or transportation to and from workshop are NOT included in the price. We’ll depend on car-pooling for our afternoon photo excursions in and around Rockport.
When you join us for Jeff’s Texas Whooping Crane Photo Tour, we recommend you stay in Rockport or Port Aransas. Large chains such as Hampton Inn, Super 8, and Econolodge have hotels in Rockport. In addition, here are some other suggestions (we DO NOT endorse any of these in particular; we’re merely providing this list as a convenience to you):
